Fremont Rec Logo

When it comes to sport tournaments, Fremont, & Sandusky County, Ohio have a variety of options for sport courts and fields. From indoor ice hockey to pickle ball courts there are lots of options for hosting sports tournaments.

Fremont Recreation Complex

Gymnasium (21,640 sq. ft.)
The Fremont Rec Center Gymnasium boasts 4 volleyball/basketball courts that can be converted into 2 full-court competition basketball courts. In addition, the West end of the gymnasium features a 10’ x 180’ sprinter’s track. The gymnasium concession stand is used for special events and tournaments. Access to the locker rooms, 2nd level and free weight room.

Ice Rink (23,500 sq. ft.)
The partially enclosed Fred W. Recktenwald Ice Arena includes a regulation ice rink (200’ x 85’) with bleacher seating for 225 people. A separate lobby and new locker rooms were added to accommodate the many hockey teams and fans who visit the Ice Rink. During open skate, guests can rent skates or enjoy the sitting area next to our concession stand, complete with its own fireplace. During the offseason, the rink is utilized for many special events and is available for rent. Normally open from Halloween to Mid March.

Outdoor Pool (8,900 sq. ft.)
The outdoor pool is heavily used as a recreation pool, but there are High School Invitationals and other swimming competitions hosted here. The Rec Complex pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Rodger F. Young Memorial Park

Rodger F. Young Memorial Park has 6 more pickle ball courts here making a total of 12 in the city.  The park also has 6 baseball or softball diamonds and will be adding two more 200' fields suitable for youth baseball or fast pitch. The fields have limestone infields, which promote rapid draining and drying after rainfall.

Fremont Ross High School

Fremont Ross has an excellent indoor pool. The Hawk-Bucci Natatorium is the home for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams for both Ross High School and St. Joe High School. The complex holds 750 people and is considered one of the best-high school swimming and diving facility in the state of Ohio.  The pool has ten (10) 25 yard lanes; it has served as the venue for many invitational and postseason events for high schools and colleges. There are varsity and junior varsity diamonds for baseball and softball.  All four are tournament quality, particularly the 2 varsity fields. There are 3 Tournament quality basketball/Volleyball courts, with a fourth at the middle school.

Naderer Sports Complex

St. Joseph High School plays its home baseball and softball games here. There
are two diamonds on land leased from the Naderer family. Conversations are
ongoing with the family on an extension of the lease and/or the addition of
home games for Terra State. This is a second possible option for Terra.
St.Joseph maintains both fields. It could be that adding college games would
result in even better field and site maintenance than the already very nice
condition. A downside might be the increase in the number of games. Grass
surfaces do need to rest. Games played following a storm could also damage
the playing surfaces.

St. Joseph High School

This small high school has one basketball court suitable for events. The
baseball and softball fields are at Naderer Sports Complex.

Lakota High School

Although located in Kansas, travel time is not that great from any point in
Fremont. Lakota serves the largest geographic area of any high school in Ohio.
What is truly significant are the four basketball and volleyball courts. These
are outstanding courts ... more than nice enough to satisfy the most finicky
tournament manager. Lakota hosts its own wrestling tournament
This would be an excellent addition to any event schedule.

Clyde Community Park

This park has five diamonds. Two are for softball (fast pitch), two are little
league fields, and one is for the youngest players.
The fast pitch fields would pair with those in Rodger F. Young to host larger
events. Travel time would be minimal.
The two softball fields are in very good condition.

Clyde High School

There are two courts at the high school and one at McPherson Middle School.
These could all be used for tournament play.

Williams Park (Gibsonburg)

This park has four diamonds, primarily for recreational purposes.

Terra State Community College

The College is growing its athletic programs. Currently, they have baseball
and volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's
and women's soccer, and e-sports. They are searching for solutions to playing
fields for baseball, softball, and soccer. Terra would like to have all its teams
on campus. The basketball/volleyball court is in the Student Activities Center.

The Houston Rockets of the NBA once used it.

Fremont Rec Ice Rink

Ice Rink shown above is also located at the Fremont Recreation Center (23,500 sq. ft.)

Fremont Ross

The Hawk-Bucci Natatorium is the home for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams for both Ross High School and St. Joe High School.  The facility, built in 2006 with private funds raised by the Fremont Area Foundation. was dedicated five years later in the names of local business owner Hal Hawk and former swim coach and athletic director Art Bucci.  The complex holds 750 people and is considered one of the best-high school swimming and diving facility in the state of Ohio.  The pool has ten (10) 25 yard lanes; it has served as the venue for many invitational and postseason events for high schools and colleges.

Lakota High School

Lakota HS Basketball Court

What is truly significant are the four basketball and volleyball courts. These
are outstanding courts, more than nice enough to satisfy the most finicky tournament manager.
