The Sandusky County Convention and Visitors Bureau is a 501c6 that is solely funded by a bed tax that is placed on the purchase of local room lodging in Sandusky County. Those funds are collected and distributed by the Sandusky County Auditor's office and is a mandatory tax to be withheld by all hotels, bed and breakfast locations and retreat centers that have 5 or more rooms occupied by paying guests.

The taxes collected are used to advertise and market our county and ultimately attract new overnight guests, thus helping both us and our local economy. Annually we print and distribute a community guide with information about hotels, restaurants, attractions, parks and more, These are distributed both locally and across the State through third party contracts with companies such as AdRack and Travelboards who maintain information at rest areas and stops along the US interstates and the Ohio Turnpike.

We also advertise area attractions though the use of paid advertising in both print and digital realms and help to promote attractions and events through SEM (Search Engine Marketing).
