Thank you for tuning into the Sandusky County Ohio, Showcase Tour! Over the next few minutes you will see how Sandusky County, Ohio could be just what you’re looking for to make your bus tours more FUN… more memorable and MORE CONVENIENT!
We’ve all heard the phrase; LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Those three ever so important words to live by when making real estate investments or choosing a location to open a business. Now it’s time for you as an operator to use OUR location to build the success of your bus tourism business!
While there is certainly enough to do in Northern Ohio and the Lake Erie Region to make it a destination market, we also realize that we are competing with larger destination markets and want to offer a fun and convenient stop on your itinerary along the way to your destination.
Now, back to that location thing… according to the Ohio Turnpike commission a total of 54.9 million vehicles traveled the Ohio Turnpike in 2016, much of that was busses traveling along this major interstate that connects the eastern part our county to the Midwest. Many of you are probably already thinking that you travel this route often. Sandusky County is located just off the Ohio Turnpike at exit 91 and is nearly the center of this stretch of interstate cutting across Northern Ohio putting us in a safe rural community between Toledo and Cleveland. Our Mid-Northern Ohio location also happens to be a convenient midpoint between Milwaukee, Chicago, and Minneapolis located to our west and Niagara Falls, New York City, Washington DC, and Boston to the east… just to name a few. That is why we have named Sandusky County the “Sweet spot of Ohio” because of our central convenient location close to it all.
Now that we have covered the location, let’s discuss what else we have to offer. Brenda Havens, the travel and promotion specialist at the Sandusky County CVB wants to make your stop in Sandusky County just as exciting as where you’ve BEEN or where you’re GOING!
With our rural location, agriculture is one of our top industries. Take in break from the hustle and bustle and take in some clean county air while you enjoy lunch or dinner at our Farm to Table experience. Enjoy a meal prepared from locally grown and sourced foods then meet the farmer for a short tour of his farm and market. Often combined with this experience is our King Dairy Farm tour. This is one of a handful of completely automated dairy farms that uses the latest in robotic technology to milk hundreds of dairy cows daily. The tour includes an ice cream treat made at Toft’s Dairy with this locally sourced milk.
Another experience that has been a favorite of bus travelers for over a decade is our “Jaws with Paws” experience. Make a stop at Lynnwood Kennels in Fremont where K9 trainer Brian Woods demonstrates the amazing capabilities of these highly skilled dogs that he trains for Military and Law Enforcement agencies Nationwide.
Perhaps an immersive Dinner Theatre would be fun option to add to your lineup of experiences. And Sandusky County CVB has three to choose from. We have our Jailhouse Rock Dinner tours that takes place at the Sandusky County Historic Jail and Dungeon. After booking and taking mug shots of your group, we will provide a catered meal in the cell block area with a live musician playing the classics from Johnny Cash, Elvis and more! Finish the night with a tour of this historical jail and 1840’s era dungeon that is one of a few left open for tours in the country.
Another theatre option is our magic dinner theatre. Join us for lunch or dinner followed by the magic of Andrew Martin. Andrew has a hilarious comedy style magic act that offers plenty of crowd participation and will have you saying “How DOES he do that?” as you laugh at members of your group who become willing props for his performance.
And last we have our newest experience that has quickly become a crowd favorite…”A night at the Tony Lou Awards” – a Murder Mystery Dinner. Step onto the red carpet and see if you can figure out who is guilty of murder in this awards show setting that is our version of the Emmys. Plenty of laughs are in store for your group as we draw in the crowd with actors placed at the ta
