Sorrowful Mother Shrine
The Sorrowful Mother Shrine was established in 1850 by Father Francis Brunner, C.PP.S. as a place for spiritual pilgrimages to honor the Sorrowful Mother, and foster deeper devotion to the Blood of Jesus Christ.
The Shrine is administered by Missionaries of the Precious Blood.
Peace and serenity abound at this old Marian shrine, one of the first in the Midwest. Its 120 acres of unspoiled woodlands have been visited by countless numbers of pilgrims since 1850 when a tiny chapel was first dedicated to the Mother of God. The Shrine has always been a place where one can truly ". . . stand still and feel the presence and the love of God . . . "
Paved walkways, winding among tall and colorful oak trees, lead to the Stations of the Cross and to the replicas of Lourdes and Sepulcher Grottos - favorite places of prayer and meditation.
