WOLF CREEK
PARK - 93 acres

Ohio's Buckeye Trail runs through the trail system
at Wolf Creek Park. |
Located
south of Fremont on S.R. 53 along Sandusky River in
area designated "scenic" by ODNR Division
of Natural Areas and Preserves. Gravel roads and parking
area. Currently and forever owned by the state
because of its location in the watershed area along
the river. Park District has lease agreement.
Campground: open April 1 - December 31 with 24 "primitive" sites
(no hook up for water or electric) at $10 per site
per night. Youth groups free with two weeks notice.
Each site has table and fire ring. Wolf Creek reservable
facility: picnic shelter - $30 per day, 10 tables,
60-80 people. When not reserved, shelter is on a
first come, first serve basis. Facility also includes
play equipment, grills, well water, restrooms, open
play area, nature trails, access to Sandusky River
for canoeing or fishing. |

MULL COVERED
BRIDGE - 1/2 acre
Located west of Wolf Creek Park on County Road 9.
Gravel parking area.
Constructed in 1851. One of the last remaining covered
bridges in Northwest Ohio. Managed in cooperation with the
County Commissioners and County Engineer |
BLUE HERON RESERVE
160 acres |
Located north of Clyde
on County Road 260 at U.S. Route 6. Gravel parking area
located on County Road 260.
Acquired by donation from The Nature
Conservancy and a federal LWCF (Land & Water Conservation
Fund) grant.
Unique natural features such as a calcareous
fen and seasonal wetlands along with one mile of boardwalk
trail made of recycled plastic lumber, made possible
with a grant from OSS Joint Solid Waste District. |
COUNTRYSIDE PARK |
Located on Countryside Place, Fremont
next to the Park District's Administrative Office in
the County Office Complex. Paved parking area. Owned
by the county, managed by the Park District.
Countryside Park reservable facility: picnic shelter
- $30 per day, 10 tables, 60-80 people. When not reserved,
shelter is available on a first come, first serve basis.
Facility also includes, play area, tables, grills, restroom
(April-October), gazebo, nesting box display, composting
display, theme gardens and memorial area. Paved walking
path (approx. 1000 ft.) for walkers, strollers, wheelchairs
(skateboards, roller blades prohibited since the path
is commonly used by nursing home residents). Shelter
built by Park District with funding from Countryside
Continuing Care Center. |

NORTH COAST
INLAND TRAIL
Access at the gazebo in downtown Clyde
or East Side Biggs-Kettner Park, Fremont. 6.5 mile
abandoned rail line converted to paved hike/bike path
with ODOT funding.
Path is open year-round for walking, jogging,
bicycling, in-line skates, strollers, - no motorized
vehicles permitted. |
Creek Bend Farm |
The 187-acre Creek Bend Farm is
located on State Route 590, Lindsey, Ohio. The purchase
of the property was made possible by a generous donation
from the Robert and Francis Roush Family and a grant
from the Ohio Public Works Commission’s Clean Ohio Conservation
Fund. The Creek Bend Farm property, listed on the National
Register of Historic Places, is the home of Fran Roush
and the late Bob Roush, former Sandusky County Commissioner.
The Park District intends to develop a 1930’s-1950’s
era farm park with the existing agricultural fields,
Muddy Creek corridor, and numerous farm buildings (
not including the house and garage). The property is
currently closed to the public except for scheduled
program use. Tours are available to any interested
clubs or organizations and may be scheduled by calling
the Park District Office: 419-334-4495. |

WHITE STAR
PARK -
800 acres
Located
south of Gibsonburg on S.R. 300. Gravel roads and parking
area. Site of the Park District's Maintenance Shop/Ranger
Office.
White
Star Quarry is
15 acres with a depth of 40'. Depth of tunnel near
scuba access is 80'. Quarry is available for scuba
diving.
Scuba
Diving is
permitted April 1- December 31. Season passes
for scuba diving for Sandusky County residents and
non-residents. No ice diving. Night dives available
on Saturday nights, Memorial Day through end of Sept.
and must be arranged through scuba concessions: Quarry
Divers, Inc. (419) 637-7911. Submerged items on quarry
floor. Tunnel is off limits |
