The Historical Tour of Fremont, conducted by a step-on guide, traces the history of the area from Indian ancestry to current residents. Follow the path of the city’s growth and development. Pass War of 1812 battle sites, learn of Fremont’s religious heritage, view Victorian homes and a scenic view of the Sandusky River complete this tour. |
Lazy G Alpaca Ranch:
Your guide will share a history of the alpaca, how the ranch became involved in raising them and the reasons for doing so. Visitors learn many fascinating facts about this very valuable and “gentle” animal. Program will entertain all ages. |
Agricultural Tours:
Sandusky County is a cornucopia overflowing with a variety of produce. Rich soil and ideal climate produce some the finest fruits and vegetables grown. Groups may select from a visit to a 200 acre fruit farm or a visit to a 700 acre farm committed to corn, beans and wheat with additional acres for a wide variety of fruits & vegetables. Spend some time shopping at the farm markets. |
Ohio’s Living History:
The staff of the Sandusky County Park District brings the history of Ohio alive with four different choices of programs. You can meet living history characters from the early 1800s at one of the following four programs: Cabin Games, Settling Ohio, School Days, and Pioneers and American Indian Crafts |
Sandusky County Recycling Center:
This tour closes the loop on the recycling process. A trained guide explains the complete process from the time you place your recyclables on the curb to how the items are re-introduced into the marketplace. |
Crystal Traditions:
A nationally known “gaffer” will give entertaining demonstration and narrative on the ancient arts of glass making. Browse through the showroom and outlet and see a wide variety of crystal gift ware |
Roots Poultry:
A guided tour of the plant traces the history of this small, family owned business. What began as a vending route, purchasing eggs and chickens for resale in Cleveland, has developed into a regional distribution system. This “Ohio Proud” company takes your group on a tour of the processing area and “noodle room”. Taste testing and shopping in company store complete this tour. |
Woodside Farms, Inc.
A tour of Woodside Farms is Sandusky County’s first “aqua cultural” experience. Woodside Farms raises fresh yellow perch, blue gill and large mouth bass. A tour of the facility provides a first-hand view of how fish are fed automatically 12 times per day, the growth rate of the fish, what it takes to maintain clean tanks, and the distribution system |
