With a history dating back to 1870, Cedar Point is the second oldest amusement park in North America. The
history of thrill rides at Cedar Point began in 1892 with the introduction of the peninsula's first roller coaster,
the Switchback Railway. It stood an incredible 25 feet tall and reached a top speed of 10 mph.
Cedar Point will take guests to a new frontier in 2007. The historic amusement park/resort is announcing
a new roller coaster named Maverick. It's a ride on the WILD side! Experience twists and turns,
low-to-the-ground maneuvers, and a 70-mph launch through a dark tunnel. Maverick features a 105-foot-tall
lift hill, a 95-degree first drop, three inversions and a new coaster maneuver, the Twisted Horseshoe Roll.
Located in Frontiertown, Maverick brings Cedar Point's coaster count to 17! That's more coasters than any
other park on Earth!
